April is Over

So this post may be a day late, but last season come September everyone was blaming April as the reason the Phillies didn't make the playoffs - a few more wins in April would have meant playing ball in October. Well, how'd did the Phils fare this time around? Last April they were 10-14, this April they were 11-14. Not much difference. On Tuesday the Phillies sat at 4th in the NL East - 5 games back of the leading Braves. The one good thing would have to be the fact that the Phillies have begun to play better and things seem to be getting better. With the win last night the Phils are at 12-14 and sit at 4 games behind the Braves. One of the good signs would have be that the Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 games, while only the Marlins are just as good as that in their last 10. There are no major injuries affecting the team right now (unlike say the Yankees and Mets). Most of the lineup is doing well, Ryan Howard will come around eventually, at least we all hope so. Cole Hamels is our future ace, hopefully the rest of the pitchers follow his and Jamie Moyer's lead. Brett Myers is about to become our closer of the future. Tom Gordon's arm hasn't fallen off. Charlie Manuel got ejected from the game last night, always like to see that. All in all the season ain't over, they need to win more games yes, but it is still early and let's see them at least get to .500 first. Only 2 more wins for that.
