Jason Grimsley

Let me start with some good news first. The Phils won their 4th in a row tonight. Ryan Howard homered AGAIN, he's third in the league in the homers. Forget Jim Thome (though I loved him) Ryan Howard is the real deal. The other Ryan, Ryan Madson, pitched a stellar game, giving the Phillies a chance to win. The Phils offense has picked it up recently as well, with Sal Fasano and Jimmy Rollins both homering. The Phils now stand at 3 games back from the Mets with their game against L.A. going on now. I'm excited for the games next week against the Mets when we may have a chance to gain a lot in the standings.

Now with the bad news. Jason Grimsley has been caught using HGH (Human Growth Harmone), a form of 'steroids' that is undetectable by current drug testing standards in the MLB. Not only has Grimsely supposedly been caught red-handed, but he also has apparently given up the names of many players he played with. The teams he played with in his now finished career (the Diamondbacks released him) include the Yankees, Royals, Indians, Orioles, and Phillies. Yes steroids in all forms are bad for baseball and it needs to be fixed. I haven't really felt bad though about past players who have been admitted steroid users. I have yet to have the feeling that I have been cheated by players of the '90s who may have actually been cheaters. Here's the catch though, now apparently Grimsley could have implicated my Phillies of the early '90s into steroid allegations. That really pisses me off. There's almost nothing I love more in sports than my '93 Phillies and everyone should know why. If I were to find out that any of my lifelong favorite players from 1993 were actually cheaters it would be the worst baseball travesty that could ever happen. I don't know if I would be able to forgive baseball.
I still love the guys from that team and I think they were the greatest without any steroids or illegal boosts, but if it turns out that they were illegal shit will hit the fan and baseball will be in trouble.
Bottom line: baseball needs to clean itself up now and find all the loopholes of the cheating system. More importantly though baseball players need to have some class and learn to play the game without.
Good Night

Who to Root for in the World Cup

I found this interesting piece about who to root for in the World Cup from this other blog. Its pretty funny and some of it is definately good points of who to root for.
Check out the post here.
I'm not as big a fan of England just because I'm such an Irish guy, but I agree with rooting against Argentina and Germany. Argentina is a bunch of bastards, you'll see why if you watch 5 minutes of any of their games.

Here is a more complete blog where the guys have previewed every world cup team in a legitimate and slightly humorous way. Some of it is worth reading if you are looking for world cup stuff, it is also has a lot of good links to other sites in their posts.

ESPN and ABC look like they are going to be doing a great job of covering the World Cup even if their announcers wont be in Germany. Every game is being shown live on one of their channels? If that is actually true it will be awesome because then I will be watching every game possible.

Well continue to get ready for the World Cup and don't forget about those Phillies tonight, let's see how Cole Hamels does tonight is his return. I gotta study some Chemistry before I go to work. Peace

Damien Rice

Damien Rice, the Irish singer/songwriter, is finally coming to America. If you have not heard him, he's great. He's coming to the Tweeter Center July 28th with Fiona Apple. Not much of Fiona Apple fan enough to want to pay money to see her, but Damien Rice is so great that I'm definately willing to pay and put up with her to see him.
I'm looking to see if anyone wants to buy a ticket with me in the reserved seating. The reserved seating is the same price as the lawn so might as well buy those tickets and we can hang out on the lawn or in our seats. I know Charlie will be going and most likely other people. Let me know if you want to go.

Other Concerts:
6/9 - moe.
6/27-28 - Dave Matthews Band
6/30 - Phil Lesh and Trey and Mike - almost definately going to this let me know if you are
7/11 - String Cheese
7/28 - Damien Rice
7/29 - The Black Crowes
8/10 - O.A.R.
8/12 - Bela Fleck

the only ones there i'm getting tickets for now are Phil Lesh and the Damien Rice, let me know if you want to go to any of the other shows and I'm probably be down to go with you. Also, if you know of any other shows that might be good let me know.

Tom Emanski

Royals Hire Tom Emanski To Teach Them Fundamentals Of Baseball

Read that article as if it were not an article from The Onion. I read it and thought it was completely plausible until the last line. That's pretty sad for the Royals, but ehh theres always a horrible team every year, this year its them. The Royals should take on the team that wins the college world series, it would probably be a good game. College kids will know fundamentals.

The Phillies should hire Emanski to teach their pitchers a thing or two. I didn't watch tonights game cause i had work, but from the sounds of it we need a complete starting pitcher overhaul (except for myers).

Bye Gavin

Gavin Floyd - the starter - is done, sorry bud, but you just can't cut it.

Dear Pat Gillick,
Get us some more starters.

Love,
Ted

Detroit Tigers... Car Trouble

The Detroit Tigers finally beat the Yankees tonight in the final game of the series. The Tigers are legit this year. They have the best record in the majors this year. The lost to the Yankees earlier this week after coming back 5-0 to tie the game and lose in extra innings. Sounds like the Phillies, but instead of going on a horrible dropping-in-the-standings losing streak the Tigers tonight picked it up and went and tied and won the game in the bottom of the 9th. That's heart. That's a desire to win. That's what the Phillies need.
And Pudge Rodriguez. Any team with him is cool to me.

Never made it to the gym, I popped a tire on the van on my way there. AAA had me on hold for too long so I decided to figure it out myself. Got some help from this mechanic dude who was near by. He was real nice and basically did it himself out of the kindness of his heart. I didn't have any money on me, but I told him to come in to wawa tomorrow when I'm working and I'll hook him up. It was really nice cause I didn't have to wait for AAA and it was free. There are still good people in this world. I hope some good comes to that guy besides me just buying him some food and cigarettes. Don't know what else to do for him.

Summer School

Well, I started summer school yesterday at Villanova. Taking chemistry 1 the next few weeks. Every week day morning at 8 am until 10:20. It's a blast. I think I might be better off taking it at nova than at Hopkins but still it does suck taking a summer course every week day morning. It'll pay off eventually when next year and junior year I'm not taking anymore stupid, general, required classes.
After class I'm either going to the gym and then work or going to work and then the gym later that night. So yeah, my social life isn't much. And it wouldn't be much anyway with the fact that I have to get up at 6:45am.
School, work, working out, phillies, that's about it. And fitting in hanging out with some cool people when I can.

If you got any concerts you think I'd see with you, let me know I'll about going to some live shows, I just got to know a week in advance so I can get off. Also same for phillies games. And if anyone wants to offer me a trip down the shore for a weekend, that'd be sweet, let me know.
well I'm going to head to the gym so I can get back in time to watch the phillies late night game against the dodgers.
