Apparently last year the reason that Jon Lieber turned his season around, lost 35 lbs, and almost won the Cy Young award (OK I'm kidding). Jokes aside apparently last year after the Marlins beat up on Lieber during one of his starts he got some tips from then-manager of the Marlins, Joe Girardi. Now the fact is the Girardi, a catcher, played with Lieber in Chicago so they are good friends. That part makes it reasonable that Girardi gave him some tips. The problem is that Girardi apparently gave him these tips during the season while he was coaching the Marlins, who in case you didn't know are in the same division as the Phils and were fighting against them for the Wild Card.Girardi ended up getting fired anyway for different reasons so nothing will come of this besides Florida management and fans (are there any?) hating Girardi more.
Hopefully Girardi gave Lieber some offseason tips so he'll have a good start this year.
