Phils Sign Free Agent RHP Rick Bauer

From today's press pass for the game:
Free agent righthander Rick Bauer agreed to a minor league contract with the Phillies, pending a physical. Bauer, 30, went 3-1 with 2 saves and a 3.55 ERA in 58 games for Texas last season. He was designated for assignment by Texas on March 26th and released on March 28th.
Here is his ESPN.com page. I don't know anything about him or if he'll even make it to the majors, but I like the fact that the Phils are stockpiling some bullpen arms, they might all suck now, but maybe one of them will turn out to be decent. We can only hope.
Some other notes from the Press Pass today
- According to Elias Sports Bureau, in two of the Phillies' last five division-winning seasons (1977 & 1983) the club got off to 0-3 starts.
- Pat Burrell is the longest-tenured active Phillies. Rollins also has played for 8 seasons but Burrell debuted 4 months prior to him.
- 13 members of the current 25-man roster were originally drafted or signed by the club.
- Charlie Manuel has been ejected 11 times as a manager for the Phils (5 times in '05 and 6 times in '06).
- Pat Burrell needs 12 HR for 200 career HR, Ryan Howard needs 18 HR for 100.
- The last time Jamie Moyer faced the Marlins the Phils won 14-2 on 9/29/2006.
- The Phils are 21-9 in the last 30 games with the Fish.
O well cheer up everyone. 3 games in Florida and then 3 games in New York. Let's hope they have a nice little roadtrip.
Have a nice Easter weekend just in case I don't post over the weekend. I'm heading home for some nice family time.
